The colour theme of the website is reflective of the artists work, this helps to create a huge brand identity for fans to be able to recognise and follow. All the items such as merchandise use the same font, style and layout creates ease for navigating around the website and adding to brand identity. The use of the Facebook like buttons and Tweeting buttons helps to spread the name of the artist as fans can display if they have just bought a ticket to her concert.

Blueprint 3 - Jay Z

Digipack analysis

This album has a dark, futuristic feel to it this if from the black background and the robotic looking mask which is placed in the center, the colors used on the mask are golds, silvers and blacks looking very sleek and advanced. In the top left hand corner states the name of the album in a flowing italics font almost like handwriting or signature, the style contradicts with the modern feel as it looks old fashioned but this effect really compliments the cover making it look like a work of art.

The disc cover adopts the same image used on the front, although this time the mask has been split into parts and placed either side of the disc. The exact same text dictating the the album name is written in the lower central area of the CD. At the top of the CD is the name of the artists group written in their recognizable font.

The back of the album digital booklet reveals the track list written in the same font as the album title in the exact same color, likewise with the color of the background being the same throughout. This page is very simple only with the display of the track list, and the credited section as well as the record label company names and the final display of the groups name "Daft Punk". Finally to the left of this is the bar-code.

In my mind - Pharell

The album cover is a cartoon image of Pharrell, centrally placed against a white background. The use of the cartoon adds humor and character to the cover as it is done in a simple style but made to look like a mimicked version of him with the same clothes, accessories and shoes. Below the cartoon is the name of the artist in a a black interesting font. The use of this font adds a little more excitement to the minimalist artwork making it visually pleasing to the eye. Moreover below the artists name is the name of the album written in a different font, this time in red, the red allows the text to stand out from the white background but not take all the attention away from the name of the artist. Lastly in the top right corner is the parental advisory warning label which helps alert buyers on the type of language and reference made in each album and if it is suitable for children.

The back of the album cover shows a similar cartoon as shown on the front cover but with its back turned, referencing to the "back of the album" and a different outfit on. The same white background is used to keep in with the overall style. likewise the text listing the track list is written in the exact same font as the album name just in italics and black. Below the track list is the names of the record label, producing company and executive directors and to the right of that is the bar-code.

The Fleurbelles

This is a mind map discussing our band called The Fleurbelles, above we have analysed each point thoroughly and come up with different strategies on how we are going to promote and sell our band, in order to do this we have discovered the target age group, discus their likes and dislikes and tried to cater to their needs in our style and music.

We have talked about what venues we are going to be gigging at how we can spread our name around by going to visiting local organisations. Moreover we have also talked about a fashion collaboration we are going to do which will help promote our name and the band itself.

Similarly we have also started social networking sites and made music video accounts called Vevo which really show off our videos and keep fans up to date with the latest news and releases.

The creation of a website will help to give the brand a known identity, the font and style will resemble the same as the one used on the CD cover of our first album. The website will sell merchandise which was from our collaboration earlier that year. It will also highlight any of the latest news about the band such as local gigs and where to purchase tickets from. Most importantly we will display our latest videos and songs on the home page and have a buttons to share this on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, this helps to get out name out on to social networking sites and increase our popularity.

The mind-map was a very useful way of displaying our ideas and the keys points really allowing us to get a feel of what a real fan would be like so we can make sure our music is perfect for them.

Narrative storyboard - Little red riding hood

This storyboard above uses Goodwin's theory, we liked his theory and felt it would work best with our altered version of Little red riding hood as the original version follows Todorov's theory. Our storyboard disrupts narrative and fractures in order to create an interesting sequence of events that will keep the audience captivated. We have made sure that the video is not just a variety of random frames but an ongoing sequence of events that do add up and make sense. With creating a series of partials in a new order we have also changed the typical characters involved and the locations to make sure that the video is interesting in every aspect.

Above we have adapted the narrative of the typical Red riding hood storyboard  which has the  features of a conventional story, using an Equilibrium, the Disruption, Recognition, Solution and finally the New Equilibrium. Here we have distorted the story line making to make it suitable for a music video, the narrative is unclear but the characters qualities are still present so that you can decipher between each one. The location used will be the same one used in the original story, the costumes for each character will be typical everyday wear combined with a stereotypical rock theme of ripped clothes and dark colors. All together the story board uses a range of shots and angles in the same location to create a sense of enigma, the characters are all placed in the same frame but at different times the narrative is completely different and far more interesting, these unique elements make a music video worth watching.

Discussion of target audience

After asking a group of people my questionnaire I was able to get a feel of our audience, what they are interested in and what styles they like. This information is very useful as it will allow us as a group to hopefully make a music video that meets their expectations.

The results showed me that the age range for the audience would be teenagers from 15-17 as the majority followed by 17-21 and 13-15. The range gap is not to bad and almost expected as the genre we are doing would usually cater for these age's. Out of males and females they both seem to be almost equal in interests for our target audience although females are a little more interested, their social class would mainly be middle class and a smaller amount from lower class as they can feel empathy from the lyrics.
The target audience told us that they mainly listen to mainstream music over indie although the artist they listen to may be well known they are not liked by the typical "mainstream" group, likewise the group said that they listened to and watched music videos from Hip hop, R&B and rap genres. A summary of a their personality would be individual, unique and have their own style as well as being reserved and chilled out. These qualities resemble a person who would typically be interested in our genre, whether they have their own style in fashion or design this is definitely a key quality.
Lastly the group made it very clear that they had a strong interest in watching music videos from their liked genres and tended to watch them either everyday, they enjoyed the themes of abstract, art related styles that spoke through the visuals and were cleverly displayed in creative mannerisms.

Visual moodboard

Mood Board by Kiah Spong

This is a visual mood board which represents our chosen genre, the colour tone present highlights the kinds of colours that we will be using in our video. Some of the images are in black and white which could be an effect we use for some of out shots. The locations in the mood board are simplistic and rich in colour which is something we are going to work with for our video, i have included some images of exterior locations which i really want to use for our video. The people shown on the mood board are attractive males and females who are style conscious, this is a common factor in a hip hop video and we will be reflecting that in ours.
